Ezekiel 22:30
So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.
Five Roles Of Effective Cell Group Leaders
Role 1: A CG leader is a Leader.
Leader- A man or woman who has the capacity to translate vision into reality.
A good leader must be able to motivate others, influence others, communicate with the people (through word, gesture and spirit). A good leader must be decisive. A good leader must be a man of faith, of confidence, of vision and of conviction.
Romans 8:38
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
Goals reflect visions. Goals must be specific, realistic, measurable and made by faith.
Proverbs 16:9
A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.
Judges 5:2
“When leaders lead in Israel,
When the people willingly offer themselves,
Bless the Lord!
Role 2: A CG leader is a Servant.
He is a ruler by his ability to serve others their meal.
Luke 12:42
And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season?
Matthew 20:25-28
But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Church leadership is very different from secular, worldly leadership. It is based on service (not control), sacrifice (not something you do for selfish, personal gain).
Role 3: A CG leader is a Father.
The three most fundamental needs of modern man in our days:
Identity, self-worth, security.
The real model of fatherhood is found in God. And Jesus came to show us the Father through demonstrating:
Compassion: Multitudes like sheep without a shepherd.
Concern: Ate with sinners, drunkards, prostitutes, etc.
Willingness: Touching the leper, etc.
Warmth: Mary and Martha's case.
Forgiveness: Adulterous woman.
Tenderness: Defending Mary's brokenness - perfume incident.
Sensitivity: Woman with the issue of blood.
Role 4: A CG leader is a Shepherd.
Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
Role 5: A CG leader is an Example.
1 Timothy 4:12
Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1 Timothy 4:16
Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
Speech, Conduct, Love (for God and for others), Spirit (what you have on the inside, attitude, spiritual life), Faith, Purity, Consistency.
