Why We Should Pray

Date: 25 April 2008
Speaker: Sister Evangeline
Venue: Chris'

God hears our prayers and He answers.

Prayer builds up your relationship with God.

1) I pray because God wants to meet with me.

Just as your parents want to meet with you, God wants to meet with you.

Ministry unto the Lord (serving God in prayer) must come before ministry unto the people.

Luke 10:41
And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.

Prioritize, put God first. Everything else will fall into place.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Do what is pleasing in the eyes of God.

2) I pray to maintain the fullness of the Holy Spirit.

By speaking in Tongues.

When you focus in your prayer, the Holy Spirit will lead you and pray through you.

When you do not pray enough, you will not be able to weather life's storms.

Mark 14:37-38
Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

There is power in tarrying in God's presence.

3) Through prayer, i can win the lost.

Mark 3:27
No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.

How to pray:
Be clear about what you want.
Pray with your heart.
Present your burdens unto the Lord.
When you pray in the Spirit, learn to pray with understanding.
Be persistent for something that God has been impressing in your heart, until you sense a breakthrough.
