The Pure in Heart

Matthew 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

James 4:8
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Your attitude is the most genuine expression of your love for God.

A "pure heart" means a heart without mixed motives or divided loyalties. It is a heart of singleness in devotion to God.

Psalms 86:11
Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name.

Saul had a divided heart, he was a man of partial obedience. Partial obedience is rebellion.

It is one thing to enter the kingdom of God, but what God really wants is for us to inherit the kingdom.

Galatians 4:6-7
And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Alot of Christians don't walk in the Holy Spirit. They try to justify partial obedience. God is looking for complete obedience in His people.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

There are many Christians today who are spiritually barren. They don't bear fruit for the Lord because: (a) they are not resolute, (b) they are not making the right choices, and (c) they are not wholehearted in their pursuit of God.

The Greek word for "see" in Matthew 5:8 means to see God remarkably clearly and to experience Him in a most intimate way; Like Abraham, Moses, Enoch and Paul did.

Purity and holiness are not achieved by rejecting or abstaining from things in life, especially those things that God has created to be good, colorful and beautiful.

Holiness is the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. It is the inner attitude of total devotion to the Lord.

Psalms 24:3-4
Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully.

To have "clean hands" is to have integrity, to integrate your faith into all your business and life dealings.

2 Chronicles 16:9
For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.
