1 Timothy 3:1-2
This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach;

1 Timothy 3:4-5
one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?);

1 Timothy 3:12
Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

Next most important relationship after our relationship with God is our relationship with our family. Your career should support your marriage, not the other way around.

Set aside time for your spouse away from the kids. Have a policy of undivided attention, and give 15hours a week given to each other to meet each others' important emotional needs.

1 Corinthians 7:3-5
Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

Promise to care (for each others' needs).

Promise of time (for undivided attention and privacy).

Promise to protect (the marriage from the potential love busters).
