Characteristics Of A Good Worship Leader

1) Lifestyle of a worshipper

2) Heart and character

- A contrite heart

David was quick to admit his mistakes and to repent. He has a soft, broken and contrite heart.

Psalm 51:16-17
For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise.

A broken and contrite heart is inclined toward God, repents quickly and is able to receive forgiveness openly. It is a heart that always remain broken unto the Lord.

Brokenness or humility is the critical ingredient that a worship leader needs to have to be able to lead others into God's presence.

A proud heart is of no use to God. If pride continues to live in a heart, God will find a way to break it. It is not all about "me" as a worship leader. It is about the congregation, the people. No matter how talented or experienced we are, we need to humble ourselves so that His Spirit can move freely through us.

- A forgiving heart

With brokenness, comes the ability to forgive and be forgiven.
