Knowing God and Walking in His Ways

Date: 29 August 2008

If you want to have a relationship with God, just like with anyone else, you need to commune with Him.

The supreme goal of Christian living is to get to know God intimately.

Philippians 3:7-14
But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

If you choose not to know God more, He is really just like a stranger.

John 17:3
And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Ephesians 2:14
For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation,

If all you know is doctorines and philosophies, then you are really missing out on what God wants you to have.

Have an ongoing relationship with Him; Have a daily walk with God. Invest your time.

Exodus 18:20
And you shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and show them the way in which they must walk and the work they must do.

"way" = heb. "derek" = a manner of life, an action.
"show" = heb. "yada" = to know by seeing, demonstrating by your lifestyle.
The "walk" followed by the "do" = God is not so concerned about what you do, but how you do the do.

Psalm 103:7
He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the children of Israel.

Psalm 145:17
The Lord is righteous in all His ways,
Gracious in all His works.

That is God's manner of life and mode of action.

What kind of life do you want to live with God?

First the way then the work. Before Jesus gave us the Great Commission, He gave us the Great Commandment.

Every step you take, where are you heading?

Jeremiah 18:15
“ Because My people have forgotten Me,
They have burned incense to worthless idols.
And they have caused themselves to stumble in their ways,
From the ancient paths,
To walk in pathways and not on a highway,

Isaiah 35:8-9
A highway shall be there, and a road,
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean shall not pass over it,
But it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool,
Shall not go astray.
No lion shall be there,
Nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it;
It shall not be found there.
But the redeemed shall walk there,

Every decision that you make, there is going to be due consequence.
