Hearing From God

Date: 23 May 2008
Speaker: Sister Evangeline
Venue: My House

John 8:26-29
I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him.”
They did not understand that He spoke to them of the Father.
Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”

Jesus has a very close relationship with God.

To hear God's voice, you must believe that there is a God who is alive. He can communicate with the people. God will speak to those who seek Him. We can recognise His voice when He speaks.

How does the Holy Spirit speak to you?

1) He quietly impresses.

Mark 2:8
But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts?

Acts 14:9
This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed,

2) He prompts gently.

Matthew 4:1
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

3) He stirs us up.

Acts 17:16
Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols.

Habakkuk 1:1-2
The burden which the prophet Habakkuk saw.

O Lord, how long shall I cry,
And You will not hear?
Even cry out to You, “Violence!”
And You will not save.

4) He moves our conscience.

Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

To rule, is to be an empire.

5) He reminds us of scriptures.

John 14:26
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
