Matthew 13:20-21
But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
God wants us to have confidence in life.
2 Samuel 22:36
“You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your gentleness has made me great.
1 John 5:14
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
7 truths about self-esteem
Humility is not the same as humiliation.
Humility is recognising who we are, God's children; And accepting our strengths and weaknesses. Humiliation is a sense of shame and embarrassment.
Putting off the sinful nature is not the same as putting down yourself.
Ephesians 4:22-24
that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Self-denial is not the same as self-degradation.
Self-denial is being willing to set aside your sinful nature; And self-degradation is cheapening yourself.
Unworthy is not the same as worthless.
1 Corinthians 6:20
For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Self-love is not the same as selfishness.
Philippians 2:4
Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Self-affirmation is not the same as self-conceit.
Self-affirmation is knowing that you can; Self-conceit is pride.
Self-awareness is not the same as self-exalt.
